Catawba-Wateree Hydroelectric Project No. 2232 Public Notice of Availability of Project Lands and Recreation Areas for Public Use Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC received a new operating license for the Catawba-Wateree Hydroelectric Project No. 2232 from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, effective Nov. 1, 2015. The project consists of 11 hydro developments that are located on the Catawba and Wateree rivers in Burke, McDowell, Caldwell, Catawba, Alexander, Iredell, Mecklenburg, Lincoln and Gaston counties in North Carolina and York, Lancaster, Chester, Fairfield, and Kershaw counties in South Carolina. As part of license requirements, Duke Energy hereby notifies interested citizens of the availability of project lands and reservoirs for public recreation use, including reservoir islands. The project has 53 current recreation sites available for the public to access the project reservoirs. Project reservoirs in North Carolina are Lake James, Lake Rhodhiss, Lake Hickory, Lookout Shoals Lake, Lake Norman, Mountain Island Lake, and Lake Wylie. Project reservoirs in South Carolina are Lake Wylie, Fishing Creek Reservoir, Great Falls Reservoir, Cedar Creek Reservoir, and Lake Wateree.
