The Marion Police Department is looking into an attempted armed robbery at CJ’s Convenience Store Monday night, according to reports.

At approximately 11:54 pm. Monday night, Marion P.D. officers responded to CJ’s Convenience Store at 1660 North Main Street to investigate a report of an attempted armed robbery. After speaking to staff, preliminary info suggests that a black male wearing black clothing, a black mask partially covering his face and white socks over his hands entered the building through the front door, then brandished a large knife and demanded money. The clerk and suspect made attempts to open a safe and register inside the store but both were unable to be opened. No currency was obtained during these attempts.

Afterwards, according to Marion P.D., the suspect left the building and was last seen fleeing south on Main Street towards Bojangles.’ Video surveillance is currently being examined for further details.
