The third annual Head Start Prom was held on Friday, May 5 in the gym and cafeteria West Marion Elementary School. Approximately 300 parents and students attended the country-western themed dance, and enjoyed food, family photos, deejay, dancing and lots of fun. Head Start staff, parents and children were invited to the prom. All costs were free for Head Start families and children. McDowell County’s Head Start program for early childhood education in children ages 3 to 5. Early Head Start is the infant/toddler program. The organization provides a wide range of services and opportunities for children and families in regards to health and nutrition, education, parent engagement and family services. There is a Head Start location at Nebo Elementary School and Eastfield Global Magnet School. Early Head Start is located behind the bus garage on Sugar Hill Road.
