A McDowell County Jail inmate was charged with assaulting another inmate during an altercation, authorities said Monday.

Sgt. Andrew Loudermilk of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Travis Lee Gabaree, 26, of Forest City, with aggravated assault.

The victim was identified as 31-year-old Christopher England, of Nebo.

At approximately 6:30 p.m. on Monday, April 10, the two men got into an altercation, at which time Gabaree kicked England, causing his head to strike a door.

England was taken to McDowell Hospital for treatment of a cut to his head.

Gabaree has been in jail since March 2, when he was charged by Rutherford County authorities with breaking and entering. He’s incarcerated under no bond pending trial.

England was jailed on April 6, when Marion police officers charged him with possession of methamphetamine and possession of up to ½ ounce of marijuana. He has a $6,000 bond and is awaiting trial.
