Authorities said Monday they arrested and charged a Marion man for allegedly abusing his 3-year-old son.
Detective J.T. Grindstaff of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Jacob James Laycock, 26, of Marion, with child abuse and assault on a child under 12.
Earlier this month, Grindstaff received a report from the McDowell County Department of Social Services of possible child abuse in the Laycock home.
An investigation showed that the suspect had hit his 3-year-old son with a belt, leaving numerous bruises on his legs.
Laycock received a $5,000 bond.
