After an overnight and morning search, an overdue hunter was located  and is in stable condition, authorities said Friday.

At approximately 9:04 p.m. Thursday, emergency agencies reported that they were searching for overdue hunter Frank Love Jr. off West Payne Road.

McDowell Rescue Squad, Sugar Hill, Marion, Glenwood, Old Fort and PG Fire Departments, McDowell EMS, McDowell Emergency Management, the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office, MAMA and NC DOC K9 attempted to locate the missing hunter overnight.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, hunter, Frank Love Jr., left to go hunting in woods off Hauke Drive around noon on Tuesday, Oct. 10. At 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, the family reported that he had not returned.

At approximately 10 a.m. today, Love was located the woods of a ridgeline off East Payne Road. He was taken to McDowell Hospital and is said to be in stable condition. According to the Sheriff’s Office, Love did not sustain many injuries, but had been out in the cold rain all night before being taken to the hospital.

Further details into Love’s disappearance are still under investigation.
