A Nebo man accused of molesting an 11-year-old acquaintance faces more charges.
Lt. Andy Manis of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office previously charged John Wesley Conner, 50, of 65 Gloria Way in Nebo, with four counts of taking indecent liberties with a child and one count each of statutory rape, statutory sex offense with a child by an adult and altering, stealing or destroying criminal evidence.
The investigation has been ongoing for a couple of weeks. It began on Tuesday, Jan. 16, when Conner’s family members reported him missing. A search for Conner turned up the allegations that he had inappropriate sexual contact with the 11-year-old girl on multiple occasions.
Further investigation has again revealed more incidents of molestation, investigators said. Manis charged Conner with another count each of statutory sex offense with a child by an adult and taking indecent liberties with a child. It is also alleged that Conner destroyed computer files regarding a sex offense, according to arrest warrants.
He also faces offenses of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia stemming from the day he was originally arrested on Friday, Jan. 19.
Conner’s total bond has now set at $810,500.
