A Henderson County couple faces drug charges after McDowell deputies found 50 packets of marijuana seeds and cash in their truck, authorities said Tuesday.

Deputy Steven McPeters of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged 31-year-old Jordanna Marie Colby and 29-year-old Jason Howard Humes, both of Fletcher, with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

At 1:15 a.m. on Tuesday, May 2, McPeters and Deputy Jesse Hicks were conducting a license checkpoint at the intersection of Lytle Mountain and Nix Creek roads, when a Dodge truck approached. The deputies could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

A subsequent search of the pickup yielded 50 packets of marijuana seeds -- approximately 500 seeds total – a pipe and cash.

Colby and Humes each received a $10,500 bond.
