A Lenoir man with warrants in Buncombe and Caldwell counties was arrested after deputies found almost eight grams of pot and various pills in his car, authorities said Friday.

Deputy David Jones of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charge Jakime Raheim Whiteside, 23, of Lenoir, with two counts of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and one count of possession of marijuana.

Shortly after 4 a.m. on Sunday, May 14, Jones was traveling east on Interstate 40 and noticed a vehicle driving erratically.

He stopped the 2016 Toyota Camry and smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car, according to the report

Jones searched the Camry and its four occupants and found in Whiteside’s possession 7.8 grams of marijuana, nine Oxycodone and 185 methadone pills.

Whiteside was also wanted on outstanding warrants out of Buncombe and Caldwell counties.

For the latest drug charges, Whiteside received a $17,000 bond.
