A Marion man was arrested and charged after allegedly stealing a mower he originally sold to his neighbor, authorities said Thursday.

Detective Nathan Mace of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Francis Jackson Jr., 59, of 87 Joes Drive of Marion, with larceny and obtaining property by false pretense.

On Sunday, Nov. 19, Daniel Sutherland, of Ashworth Circle in Marion, reported that someone stole his MDT riding mower from his property.

An investigation led to Jackson, who lives near the victim and originally sold him the mower.

The mower, valued at $800, was recovered.

Jackson’s bond was set at $17,500.
