A Marion man was arrested and charged after buying a vehicle stolen last October, authorities said Friday.
Detective Jason Grindstaff of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged David Eugene McKinney, 49, of 86 Wall Poole Road in Marion, with possession of a stolen vehicle.
On Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, someone stole a 2001 BMW convertible, belonging to Henry Ruzakowski of Marion, from the Baker’s Automotive lot on Sugar Hill Road, where it was left to be repaired.
Two suspects – 25-year-old Dakota Tyanna McCool, of 166 McEntire Road in Old Fort, and 28-year-old Kyle Ellis Croom, of 71 Bradley Kelly Drive in Old Fort – were previously charged with taking the BMW.
Further investigation led Grindstaff to McKinney, who bought the stolen vehicle the day after it was taken from Baker’s.
The BMW has since been recovered.
McKinney’s bond was set at $10,000.
