A Marion man was arrested and charged after a months-long investigation uncovered prescription pills and $2,000 in cash, according to reports.
The Marion Police Department charged Rickey Lee Jaynes, 54, of 2234 Sugar Hill Road in Marion with trafficking of opioids, possession with intent to sell and deliver opioids and maintaining a dwelling place for opioids.
At approximately 12:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon, Marion police officers, in conjunction with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office and the State Bureau of Investigations, performed a narcotics search at 2234 Sugar Hill Road. This investigation stemmed from numerous citizen complaints of illegal activity at this location over the last several months.
After a several month investigation, it was discovered that the suspect, Jaynes, was selling and distributing prescription opioids, or “pain pills”. Numerous variations of prescription opioids were found inside the residence, all of which were not prescribed to Jaynes.
At the time of his arrest, $2,000 in currency was also located and seized from the residence.
Jaynes was issued a $200,000 bond.
