A Marion man was arrested and charged with breaking into and stealing from his neighbor’s home last September, authorities said Thursday.

Detective Nathan Mace of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Chet Eugene Saylor, 36, of 2294 Mudcut Road in Marion, with breaking and entering, larceny and possession of stolen goods.

Charles McClellan, of Mudcut Road, reported on Sept. 1, 2017, that someone broke into his house and stole $725 worth of property, including a DVD player and DVDs, hand and power tools, small kitchen appliances, a phone and a set of golf clubs.

An investigation led to Saylor, who is the victim’s neighbor.

Some of the property was recovered.

Saylor’s bond was set at $30,000.
