A Nebo woman was arrested and charged with possessing meth after deputies were tipped to a suspicious person at a gas station, authorities said Wednesday.

Deputy Patrick Guion of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Shantia Star Ollis, 20, of 388 Harmony Grove Road in Nebo, with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

At approximately 9 p.m. on Monday, June 26, Guion responded to the Marathon gas station, on Harmony Grove Road, to a report of a suspicious person. He arrived to find an impaired female, later identified as Ollis.

The deputy searched Ollis’ belongings and located a small amount of methamphetamine, pipes and syringes.

When taken to the magistrate’s office, Ollis began using profanity at the magistrate, who then held her in contempt of court and sent her to jail for 30 days, authorities said.

Ollis received a $12,500 bond.
