A father and son are behind bars facing kidnapping charges.

Detective Billie Brown of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Ray Jackson “Tre” Welch III, 26, of 964 Stacy Hill Road, with second-degree kidnapping, robbery with a dangerous weapon and breaking and entering.

Brown also charged Ray Jackson “Jackie” Welch Jr., 55, who lives outside of McDowell with an unclear address, on the same charges as his son.

On Christmas Day, the Welches reportedly went to the Triple R Drive residence of Danny Hall with a gun and brass knuckles and robbed Hall of money and a TV. Hall’s 16-year-old daughter was also at his residence at the time of the crimes, according to the McDowell Sheriff’s Office. She requested to leave the home during the incident, but the suspects refused, Brown said.

Tre Welch received an $87,000 bond following his arrest.

A Crimestoppers report was released on Monday morning requesting information on Jackie Welch’s whereabouts. He subsequently turned himself into authorities as of 1:37 p.m. that afternoon, according to the McDowell Sheriff’s Office.

Tre Welch received an $87,000 bond; Jackie Welch received a $75,000 bond.
