Firefighting Technology III students learned how to set up and draft water from portable tanks in their Water Supplies class. These tanks are used to supply water for firefighting when there are no hydrants nearby. Tanker trucks fill up with water from a pond or creek or a distant hydrant, and dump the water into the portable tanks. Firefighters must be able to set up operation like this quickly and efficiently. Almost all of the students in Firefighting Technology III are also junior members of volunteer departments. Engineer Clay Rudicill of the Marion Fire Department brought one of their engines to help train the students.
