Downtown Marion’s summer concert series kicks off Friday evening at the Marion Tailgate Market.

This evening will be the first of three concerts scheduled for the Summer Concerts will take place from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Tailgate Market. DJ Mitzy Entertainment will play music from the 1950s.

“Make sure to bring your dancing shoes to dance to your favorite songs of the 1950s,” reads a news release. “And bring your classic car to display for all the car enthusiasts to enjoy!” Snowball’s Chance Homespun Sugar will sell snow cones and other fun foods.

The second Summer Concert at the Marion Tailgate Market will take place Friday, July 21 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. It will feature Marion’s own high energy The Rockabillys, playing a variety of oldies and country music from the 1950s to the 1990s. “From Ricky Nelson to Willie Nelson, Elvis to Vince Gill, blues to bluegrass…something for everyone to enjoy,” reads the news release. “Fronted by Seattle, Wash.-native Steve Fearey and Mississippi Delta-raised John Richardson, The Rockabillys music will get your toes tapping and make you want to get up and dance.”

The last of the Summer Concerts will be the Beach Bash on Friday, Aug. 18 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. with Deano and the Dreamers. “Playing music that will make you want to shag to every song,” reads the news release.
