The Marion City Council will talk again about the Community Building Park’s sinkhole and also discuss street matters at Tuesday’s regular meeting.

The City Council will hold its regular meeting for July at the City Hall on Tuesday starting at 6 p.m.

The first item will be honoring the Citizen of the Month, as selected by Councilman Everette Clark. Council will also recognize an employee who has achieved certification.

Public Works Director Brant Sikes will present an evaluation of the sinkhole at the Community Building’s Park and recommended repairs.

Two public hearings are scheduled. One is about the zoning for the Valley Street/John Gilkey Road area and the other is about zoning for the School Street annexation area.

The public comment period will follow. This is the time when the public can speak to council about any issue or item not on the agenda.

Council members will talk about a budget ordinance amendment and approve the 2016-2017 property tax settlement. They will approve the order of collection for 2017 property taxes.

Council will review street requests and consider awarding the contract for the street repaving work. They will consider an appointment to the Isothermal Rural Transportation Planning Organization Technical Advisory Committee and schedule the advisory board/volunteer dinner. City officials will schedule the next planning session.

City Manager Bob Boyette will give his report to council.
