McDowell detectives have charged a Marion man with breaking into a woman’s house and stealing property, authorities said Friday.

Det. Nathan Mace of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Jerry D. Parks Jr., 31, of Wilson Farm Road in Marion, with one felony count each of breaking and entering and larceny after breaking and entering.

On Jan. 3, Terry McCollum, of Wilson Farm Drive, reported that someone entered her residence and stole computer equipment, currency, a phone, and an electronic tablet worth a total of $970.

Mace said an investigation led to Parks, who is a neighbor of the victim.

He was taken into custody in lieu of a $10,500 bond.
