A Marion woman facing multiple sex offenses is in jail under a $430,000 bond .
According to a news release from the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office, Detective J.T. Grindstaff charged Amanda Elaine Collins, 43, of Lawing Road in Marion, with six felony counts each of incest and statutory rape, four felony counts of child abuse and one felony count of taking indecent liberties with a child. The alleged victim was 13 years old, according to court documents.
A report filed at the sheriff’s office said a sex toy was purchased for the victim and sexual intercourse had occurred. The victim is now 17.
Warrants obtained from the McDowell County Courthouse said the alleged sexual interactions took place between Dec. 1, 2011 and Jan. 31, 2012 at a residence on Dawns Drive.
Detectives are still investigating the case and would not comment further about the charges.
“We are not going to release any more details to jeopardize the case or identify the victim,” Richelle Bailey, public information assistant, said on Friday.
According to Collins’s Facebook page, she is the owner of Hair Slingerz salon located on U.S. 221 South in Glenwood, and a real estate broker at The Marion Agency. Her profile said she has previously been a substitute teacher with McDowell County Schools.
As a condition of her charges, she was ordered to have no contact with the victim.
