The McDowell County Health Coalition will kick off the fall season with a mobile health and resource clinic next week.

The clinic will be held Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Clinchfield United Methodist Church. The Coalition and its partner agencies will provide health-related services and information at the Clinchfield United Methodist during the church’s food pantry hours of operation, according to a news release.

“The community support and strong local partnerships in McDowell community have made the Health Coalition’s Mobile Health Clinics a great success over the past two years,” said Lanie Honeycutt, program manager of McDowell Access to Care and Health. “Agency representatives have been able to link countless individuals with health care services, dental care, behavioral health resources, and employment opportunities while providing resources to those who need them the most. The clinics are an innovative way to bring information and services to the most rural areas of our community while building on the collaborative spirit of McDowell County.”

Several community agencies will attend to provide health screenings and information about employment opportunities, continuing education, dental care resources, access to health care and behavioral health services, emergency assistance, healthy eating information and transportation services.

A representative from McDowell Emergency Medical Services’ Community Care Paramedic Program will be available to provide blood pressure and blood sugar screenings, while representatives from RHA Behavioral Health Services, the McDowell Cooperative Extension Service, Collins Dental Clinic, N.C. Works Career Center, the McDowell Senior Center, A Caring Alternative and McDowell DSS will be available to provide information about the services their agencies provide, according to the news release.

The McDowell Access to Care and Health (MATCH) Program will also be onsite to assist individuals without health insurance with accessing affordable health care and connection to resources not offered at the event.
