Through a two-day pageant, two new queens representing the annual Mountain Glory Festival in Marion were crowned.

The pageant began on Friday, Oct. 13 at East McDowell Middle School were participants competed in the areas of fitness, talent, evening gown and on-stage question.

On Saturday, during the Mountain Glory Festival, the contestants sat through a personal interview with the judges to complete the final phase of competition. Skylar Rock of Marion was crowned Miss Mountain Glory for 2018 and received a $500 scholarship.

The Mountain Glory Festival Pageant is open to young ladies that live in North Carolina between the ages of 13 and 23. The winners of the pageant spend one year making appearances, serving their community and promoting their platforms.
