McDowell High’s NJROTC teams recently participated in a drill competition at Summerville High School in South Carolina.

Titans competed against nine other NJROTC Units winning two trophies. Their strong performance qualified them to compete in the NC/SC State Championship.

Cadet/Chief Petty Officer Kearsten Pendley said, “I’m proud of what we accomplished at this meet. We worked through some rough patches that we have had lately and came together as a team and overcame these problems. We came to this competition ready to compete. Some of our key team members were not present so junior members had to step up - which they did. I am confident we can build upon this success and return our teams to the level they have traditionally been at.”

The McDowell air rifle team did especially well - they finished in first place overall - including taking first, second and third in individual scores and the top score in each position.
