Old Fort Elementary receives $1,000 Bright Ideas grant from Rutherford Electric

Media Coordinator Julie McKinney (left) of Old Fort Elementary applied and received a $1,000 grant from Rutherford Electric for their program Bright Ideas. She was presented with the check by Jeff Brittain (right) and Tommy Chapman (not pictured).

The money will go toward supporting their school project, “Lights, Camera, Action!”

“We will use this money to improve technology needed to produce better videos. Our school has a broadcasting team that creates a morning news show each day. We have a ‘green room’ that is used for the news show and for projects. Students can be anywhere at any time to make some really interesting things,” McKinney told The McDowell News.
