A pharmacist at Walmart has been charged with stealing drugs, according to a report from the Marion Police Department.

Officer Randy Seay, of the MPD, on Monday charged Ashleigh Graham Phillips, 42, of U.S. 221 North in Marion, with three counts of felony larceny by an employee and one count of simple possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance.

According to the report, Walmart’s asset protection manager told police they had three separate videos of Phillips taking medication on three different occasions on July 25, July 31, and Aug. 4. Police reviewed the tapes that revealed Phillips taking the pills, according to the report

She is accused of stealing 20 hydrocodone and 12 zolpidem (Ambien) while behind the counter at the Walmart pharmacy. She also admitted to officers that she has taken other medications in the past including lorazepam (Ativan) and temazepam (Restoril). The medications taken are of the benzodiazepine family, mainly used for anxiety and insomnia. Hydrocodone is a narcotic painkiller.

The report states that Phillips had the zolpidem on her person when police questioned her about the incidents. She returned the medication to authorities and it was discarded.

Phillips has never been charged with a crime in McDowell County other than a minor traffic violation. She was released from custody on a written promise to appear in court. Her first court date was Wednesday where her case was continued until October.

A photo of Phillips was not available on Thursday.
