At the regular Monday meeting, the McDowell County Commissioners accepted a donation from the Rotary Club of Marion of three Automated External Defibrillators (AED) devices for public buildings in case of a medical emergency.

The Rotary Club is giving three to the city of Marion and three to the county.

Emergency Services Director William Kehler suggested these units be placed in high-traffic buildings, so the three for the county will be installed at the Marion and Old Fort libraries as well as the Recreation Center.

The Rotary Club has worked alongside Kehler on this important project. Club President Steve Pierce made the presentation at Monday’s meeting. Pierce will next make a similar presentation to the Marion City Council.
