McDowell County’s Board of Education will meet Monday night to vote on a design for Old Fort Elementary.
Slated under old business, an update will be given on the board’s latest work session with architect Chuck Hamrick, who is in charge of the Old Fort project. Then, Old Fort’s representative Patrick Ellis will speak, and possibly request a vote for the project design for the school.
Other agenda items include:
-Superintendent Mark Garrett will give his administrative reports.
-Special recognitions will be given to the 2017 McDowell County Schools Christmas card winners and McDowell High School graphic design students.
-The curriculum feature, titled The Innovator’s Mindset, will be presented by the district’s tech department.
-Teacher representative Benjamin Moore will give his monthly report.
-The board will receive their N.C. School Board Association awards.
-Three minutes will be given to anyone who has a request to address the board during the public comment section.
-Under new business, board members will give a report from their committees. Vice Chair Terry English will present the 2016-2017 audit report.
-The board will vote on the consent agenda. Lastly, the board will go into closed session to consider personnel action, consult with their attorney and discuss negotiations or land acquisition.
