Marion police said Wednesday they are searching for a suspect who robbed the Waffle House on Sugar Hill Road with a gun early Monday morning.

According to a news release from the department, on Monday at approximately 5:35 a.m., police responded to the Waffle House to investigate an armed robbery. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the Waffle House staff, who told them the suspect entered through the front door of the business, brandished a handgun and demanded money from the cash register.

The staff complied with the request, and the suspect was given an undisclosed amount of currency. The suspect then exited, and was last seen fleeing toward the rear of the building, police said.

The suspect was described as wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, black toboggan, dark-colored pants with their face covered with a camouflage bandanna. It is unknown if the suspect is male or female.
