HUDSON

Lorene Holland Freeman passed away Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017, after a period of declining health.

She was born May 26, 1938, to the late James Reid and Josie Holland in McDowell County. She was a graduate from Glenwood High School and Lenoir-Rhyne College. She taught 5th grade at Hudson Elementary School from 1950 until retiring in 1988. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Robert Esmond Freeman and one brother, Alvin Holland.

She is survived by one son, James Robert Freeman of Hudson; one sister, Ruby Holland from Marion; one brother, Harry Holland and wife, Laura of Marion; two granddaughters, Jamie Freeman Esch and husband, Eric of Granite Falls and Julie Freeman of Carthage; two great-grandsons, William Riley Davis of Granite Falls, and Thomas Benjamin Freeman of Daytona, Fla.

The body will lie in state Saturday, Dec. 23, from 10:30 to 11 a.m. in the chapel of Mackie Funeral Home.

Funeral will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be held Saturday, Dec. 23, in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Lenoir.
