Annie Bell Johnson, 94, of Marion, died Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, at Brian Center Health & Rehabilitation in Gastonia following several years of declining health.

A daughter of the late Leonard Andrew Johnson and Bessie Josephine Johnson, Annie was born in Marion, Jan. 21, 1923. She was a founding member of Mt. Calvary Free Will Baptist Church and happened to be the oldest member at the time of her passing. She was retired from Washington Mills. Annie was like a mother to the children of her church. She loved them and they knew it, sweetly returning love and devotion to her. A loyal wife and dedicated mother and grandmother, she sadly lost her beloved husband, George Johnson, and a son, Jack Edward Johnson, both of whom were called away by the Lord before her. Surviving are two daughters, Frances Gammon of Tennessee and Mildred Sellers of Gastonia, as well as three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends today (Sunday, Oct. 29), from 2 to 3 p.m., at Westmoreland Funeral Home in Marion.

A funeral service will follow in Westmoreland Chapel at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Donnie Massingill and the Rev. Richard Stanley officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.

Flowers are acceptable and appreciated, however, those desiring to make a memorial contribution in her memory are encouraged to consider the Mt. Calvary FWB Church Mother's Class at 523 Veterans Dr., Marion, NC 28752. An online register is available at
