OLD FORT Betty Moore Lunsford, 83, of Old Fort, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2016 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 21, 1933 in McDowell County, to the late Willie and Burdell Whitson Moore. She was a member of the Old Fort Church of God and a lifelong Sunday School Teacher. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her son, Jimmy Lunsford and two sisters, Louise McQuirt and Bernice Haskins. Surviving Mrs. Lunsford are her husband of 65 years, Alvin Lunsford of the home; one son, Willie Lunsford and wife, Glenda of Eddneyville; two daughters, Nancy Bartlett of Sugar Mountain and Norma Lewis and husband, Terry Carson of Morganton; two brothers, Howard Moore and wife, Shirley of Old Fort and James Moore and wife, Gail of San Diego, Calif.; four grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at Kirksey Funeral Chapel in Old Fort. A Memorial Service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral chapel. So sorry for you loss. I worked with Betty years ago at Pine Valley and always loved to see her smile she always had on her face. May God be with you her family and see you thru this time.
