John Franklin Minish MORGANTON John Franklin Minish, 63, of Morganton, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at his residence. A native of McDowell County, born June 18, 1950, he was the son of the late John and Margaret Minish. A loving father and friend who enjoyed life, and a self-employed brick mason, Johnny was an avid golfer. He was a member of the Marion Moose Lodge #1705 for 35 years. Johnny is survived by five children, Teresa Royal, Cathy Blackburn, John Minish, Wesley Robinette and Johnnie Hickman; two brothers, Albert and Archie Minish; two sisters, Ivory Lewis and Clara Haney; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Johnny's partner, Libby Smith, also survives. A funeral service will be held Thursday, May 1, at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home, with the Rev. Doug McGee officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home. Those wishing to make memorial donations in Johnny's memory are asked to consider, Marion Moose Lodge #1705, Special Day Project, P.O. Box 1359, Marion, NC 28752.
