The steam excursion train featured Southern Railway’s No. 630 locomotive, which was built in 1904 and went through a 10-year rehabilitation before being put back into service. It is owned and operated by the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum.
A small crowd showed up to this year's Catawba River Tube Regatta on Saturday. During the third annual event, folks enjoyed drifting down the river in homemade, brightly colored floats.
The waters of Mill Creek are almost at the bottom of the footbridge that connects the Mountain Gateway Museum’s amphitheatre area with the other section of the museum property. Another nearby footbridge that goes to the Old Fort branch library has been closed until further notice.
