Lady Titans struggle at West 4A Regional

The McDowell Lady Titans golf team participated in the West 4A Regional Tournament Tuesday at Mooresville Golf Club.

The Lady Titans struggled, finishing 11th in the 12-team field with a score of 332. Reagan High won the regional with a 240. Lake Norman was second with a 254 and Charlotte Catholic placed third with a 255.

Lake Norman’s Kathryn Carson was the individual medalist with a 72. Catholic’s Keri Kenkel and Reagan’s Mary Slade White tied for second with 74s.

McDowell’s top individual finisher was senior Mackenzie Effler, who shot 107. Senior Madison Lytle carded a 110. Tyler Price (115), Mackenzie Hemphill (118) and McKenzie Hartman (119) also competed for the Lady Titans.

The Mountain Athletic 4A/3A’s top 4A finisher was T.C. Roberson’s Maya White, whose 81 landed her in the top eight.

The State 4A Championship will be played at Pinehurst No. 5 Oct. 24-25.
