McDowell 58, St Stephens 26 (jayvee boys)
In junior varsity boys’ action, the McDowell Titans got on track and sailed past the St. Stephens Indians 58-26 at Titan Gymnasium.
The blowout win helps offset a one-point loss that the Titans had in their first matchup at St. Stephens back in December.
Dequan Boyce led the way with 10 points and four rebounds. Tyler Rector and Richard Handy finished with seven points each.
The contest started out slowly for both squads as McDowell held a slim 7-4 lead, but from that point, the Titans cranked up the intensity a couple levels and it resulted in a growing lead up to 12 points at the half and 24 points (45-21) after three quarters.
Gavin Davis and Seth Harrison added six points each. Colby Effler (4 assists) and Johnathan Ramirez tallied five points each.
Trent Lewis scored four points and Michael Queen, Mason McPeters and Peyton Rose scored two points apiece.
McDowell continues a current home stand on Friday against Watauga (4 p.m. jayvee girls).
