SAWMILLS - The McDowell Lady Titans junior varsity basketball team kept its perfect Northwestern Conference intact after an easy 38-14 win Friday afternoon at South Caldwell.
A total of seven McDowell (15-0, 11-0 NW 3A/4A) players scored in the victory on the road. Katie Baker tallied nine points, Naliyah Boyce had eight points and Peyton Koone scored seven points.
Daisy Rice chipped in with six, Makenna Parkins scored five, freshman Makiya Burgess netted two and Madi Smith finished with one.
McDowell 59, South Spartans 47 (jayvee boys)
In junior varsity boys action, the McDowell Titans survived a hard-fought affair, getting the upper hand on the South Caldwell Spartans 59-47.
Trent Lewis led the way, scoring 16 points and grabbing 11 points while sophomore Qualique Garner had 10 points.
The rest of the offensive production for McDowell (13-4, 10-2) was fairly even. Dequan Boyce (5 rebounds, 2 assists) finished with nine points. Tyler Rector (3 assists) netted five points.
Gavin Davis, Seth Harrison and Johnathan Ramirez had four points apiece off the bench. Richard Handy scored three points and Riley Moore, along with Jalen Robbins, finished with two points apiece.
McDowell will begin the last week of the season on Tuesday at West Caldwell (4:30 jayvee boys only)
