The winter sports season has come to an end for the middle school ranks. Here’s a recap of action from the hardwood in the Foothills Conference:

East McDowell 53, Heritage 40 (boys basketball)

The East McDowell Trojans finished the season with two big wins in league play. On Monday, a total of eight Trojans scored in a 53-40 win against the Heritage Eagles.

Zavion Bianchini erupted for 21 points to lead all scorers and Josh Smith added 15 points for East (6-6).

Jandon Robbins netted seven points. Mason Lamb chipped in with five points. David Olivo scored three points, Michael Ellis had two points and Chase Coley along with Evan Grigsby scored one point each.

East McDowell 57, Table Rock 56 (boys basketball)

Last Thursday, the Trojans, with the help of a game-winning shot by Josh Smith, upset Table Rock 57-56.

Smith and Zavion Bianchini each posted a team-high 16 points in the victory. Jandon Robbins added 15 points.

Mason Lamb had six points and Chase Coley scored four points for East McDowell.

Heritage 30, East McDowell 18 (girls basketball)

The East McDowell Lady Trojans could not overcome a slow first half and fell 30-18 at Heritage Monday afternoon in the regular-season finale for both teams.

The Lady Eagles were up as much as 21-9 late in the first half and were able to keep East McDowell (6-6) at arm’s length the rest of the way.

Savannah Banks had 11 points to lead the Lady Trojans in scoring. Kelsi McPeters had five points and Emily Alfaro finished with two points.

East McDowell 31, Table Rock 24 (girls basketball)

Last Thursday, East McDowell’s girls came away with a 31-24 win on the road at Table Rock. Savannah Banks (11 rebounds) scored 12 points and Kelsi McPeters (7 rebounds) contributed with 10 points.

Emily Alfaro (7 rebounds) had four points. Sydney Strode (6 assists, 5 rebounds) and Peyton McPeters scored two points each. Kassie Banks had one point and Riley Jo Holland recorded one block.

Liberty 40, West McDowell 9 (girls basketball)

The West McDowell Lady Spartans season ended the season on Monday with a loss to conference champion Liberty.

Emma Washburn scored seven points for West McDowell and Katie Davis had two points in a losing effort.
