Four arrested in home, business drug raid

A Nebo trio and one Hickory suspect were arrested and charged after a home and business raid uncovered over 16 grams of meth and 8 grams of pot, authorities said Monday.

Detective Patrick Guion of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged 31-year-old Shane Dee Brinkley, address listed as Chestnut Oak Forest Drive in Nebo, with possession of methamphetamine; 51-year-old Larry Russell Fitzgerald, address listed as Chestnut Oak Forest Drive in Nebo, with possession of methamphetamine, possession with intent to sell and deliver methamphetamine and maintaining a dwelling to keep a controlled substance; 52-year-old Gloria Lynn Hensley, address listed as Chestnut Oak Forest Drive in Nebo, with possession of methamphetamine, possession with intent to sell and deliver methamphetamine and maintaining a dwelling to keep a controlled substance; and 31-year-old Shawnta Love Kirby, address listed as 13th Street SW in Hickory, with possession of methamphetamine and possession with intent to sell and deliver methamphetamine.

On the morning of Thursday, Dec. 20, authorities with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office, Marion Police Department and the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation raided the residence on Chestnut Oak Forest Drive occupied by three of the suspects.

“We had received numerous complaints from neighbors about all the traffic in that area, and we knew there was drug activity going on,” said Guion.

A search of the house turned up 16.2 grams of methamphetamine and an unspecified amount of currency. A search of Hensley’s business, Gloria’s Place thrift shop on East Court Street in Marion, that morning also uncovered 8.8 grams of marijuana.

Additional charges are pending.

Brinkley’s bond was set at $7,500, Fitzgerald’s bond was set at $35,000, Hensley’s bond was set at $25,000 and Kirby’s bond was set at $2,000.
