McDowell County sheriff’s deputies and Marion police officers are on the hunt for the gunman believed to have shot a man at the McDowell Recreation Department on Friday, Aug. 24.

Manuel Valdez, 18, whose last known address was 56 J.S. McMann Drive in Marion, is wanted on two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and one count each of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, discharging a firearm within an enclosure, robbery with a dangerous weapon and first-degree burglary.

Valdez is believed to be responsible for robbing the victim, 20-year-old Jake Price, of Shell Road in Marion, at gunpoint in his home on Tuesday, Aug. 21 and then shooting Price outside the county recreation department on the night of Aug. 24, hitting the victim in the leg and arm.

An investigation into both the robbery and shooting continue.
