A McDowell High student was charged after the school resource officer located a gram of pot on the teen during a search, authorities said Thursday.

Deputy Jason Cook of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Jacob Daniel Stewart, 16, address listed as Cannon Farm Road in Marion, with possession of marijuana.

On Wednesday, Feb. 13, Cook, the school’s resource officer, was talking to the student about an unrelated case. At which point, a subsequent search of the teen uncovered 1 gram of pot.
