A mobile home in Marion was heavily damaged by fire on Monday afternoon, according to reports.

At approximately 1:44 p.m., emergency units responded to Radio Hill Drive near the intersection of Deacon Drive and Fairview Road in Marion after receiving reports of a structure fire in progress.

By the time fire agencies arrived on scene, the single-story mobile home – owned by Jose Dominguez of Marion – on the private road was engulfed in flames and heavy smoke.

According to Marion Asst. Fire Chief Ray McDaniel, there were no occupants inside the home during the fire.

“We think it might be might be the pump heater, cause we’d been having problems with it the last couple of weeks,” said Dominguez, “but we disconnected it, so we don’t know what happened.”

The cause and origin of the fire are still under investigation, according to McDaniel.

Marion, Nebo, Glenwood and Dysartsville Fire Departments, McDowell EMS, McDowell Rescue Squad and the American Red Cross responded to the incident.
