The Old Fort Board of Aldermen will meet on Monday at 5:30 p.m. to discuss a request for the services of the NC Main Street & Rural Planning Center, a proposed wheel tax and other public concerns.
On Monday, the board will propose a resolution requesting the services of the NC Main Street & Rural Planning Center, a program based out of the state Department of Commerce that works in regions, counties, cities, towns, downtown districts, and in designated North Carolina Main Street communities to inspire place making through building asset-based economic development strategies that achieve measurable results such as investment, business growth, and jobs.
Under old business, the board will provide updates on the installing of back flow preventers and the newly implemented fines for those not in compliance. Also on the agenda is discussion of a planning board to be formed in town.
Under new business, items on the agenda include: a proposed wheel tax (a vehicle registration fee commonly used on automobiles generally less than 8,000 pounds) for the next year’s budget; repairs and extension of a water line previously capped off on Reservoir Road; the county water bill for the Old Fort Recreational Pool; radios for the Old Fort Police Department; and e-citations.
