An Old Fort man was arrested and charged after deputies responding to a break-in and domestic dispute found meth on the suspect while he was detained, authorities said Wednesday.

Deputy Gioia Holland of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Daniel Ted Stewart, 32, address listed as Vernon Bradley Road in Old Fort, with possession of methamphetamine.

Stewart was also served with an outstanding warrant for larceny of a motor vehicle.

On the morning of Friday, Jan. 4, Holland was called to Foothills Industries, on Rockwell Drive in Marion, in reference to a break-in and domestic dispute.

When the deputy arrived on the scene, Marion police officers had Stewart detained.

A subsequent search of his person and belongings yielded .80 gram of methamphetamine.

Stewart was previously charged by the Sheriff’s Office following the theft of a 2003 Saturn from Cody Bradshaw of Old Fort, reported on Dec. 6.

Stewart’s bond for the latest charge was set at $21,000.
