A Marion felon was arrested and charged after a probation search at his home turned up a rifle and just over one gram of pot, authorities said Friday.

Deputy Jeffrey Hill of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Michael Ray Lewis Evans, 20, address listed as Davis Park Lane in Marion, with possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of marijuana.

Hill assisted state probation officers with a search of Evans’ residence on Monday, Nov. 5. While on probation, Evans, a convicted felon, is subject to warrantless searches.

Authorities located a rifle and 1.3 grams of marijuana in his possession.

Evans’ bond was set at $20,500.
