A Nebo man was arrested and charged after deputies and state troopers located over 80 grams – or close to three ounces – of pot in his vehicle during a traffic stop, authorities said Friday.

Deputy Steven McPeters of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Barry Lee Sanders Jr., 35, address listed as U.S. 70 East in Nebo, with possession of marijuana, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and maintaining a vehicle to keep a controlled substance.

On the afternoon of Saturday, Jan. 12, McPeters assisted N.C. Highway Patrol troopers with a traffic stop at Harmony Grove and Earl Lee roads.

Authorities searched the Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Sanders and located 80.5 grams – or 2.84 ounces – of marijuana.

Sanders’ bond was set at $65,000.
