A Marion man was arrested and charged after state troopers located over five grams of meth while he was a passenger at a license check, authorities said Tuesday.
Detective Patrick Guion of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged James Dale Shehan Jr., 27, of 804 State St. in Marion, with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
On Nov. 16, Trooper D.R. Alexander of the N.C. Highway Patrol stopped a vehicle at a license checkpoint and located 5.3 grams of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in the car.
Shehan was a passenger in the automobile.
The case was turned over to Guion. Further investigation showed that the drugs belonged to the suspect, authorities said.
Shehan received an unsecured bond.
