Authorities said Tuesday they arrested and charged a Marion man for possessing meth after he and another person were spotted walking on the road and a deputy pulled over to chat.

Detective Patrick Guion of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Roger McKinley Ward, 26, of Driftwood Drive in Marion, with possession of methamphetamine.

At 10:45 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 14, while Guion was patrolling on Baldwin Avenue, he spotted Ward and another person walking along the road.

He talked to the subjects, and a subsequent search turned up .3 gram of methamphetamine on Ward’s person.

Ward received a $2,500 bond.
