Report: Pot, gun found in couple's home

A Marion couple was arrested and charged after deputies and probation officers located a small amount of pot and a weapon at their home, authorities said Thursday.

Detective Van Williams of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged William Zachary Willis, 31, address listed as Bethamy Drive in Marion, with possession of a firearm by a felon.

Williams also charged Amanda Sue Murphy, 39, address also listed as Bethamy Drive in Marion, with possession of marijuana.

On Saturday, Nov. 11, Williams assisted state probation officers with a search at the couple’s home. Murphy is on probation and subject to warrantless searches.

Authorities located a gun in Willis’s possession and a small amount of marijuana belonging to Murphy.

Willis’ bond was set at $15,000; Murphy’s bond was set at $500.
