The two parties involved in an early morning stabbing on Wednesday in Marion have been identified.
At approximately 8:05 a.m. Wednesday morning, emergency units and law enforcement were dispatched to the area of US 221 Business North, across the street from Chow Time Pizza in reference to an assault that had just taken place.
Information being released at this time indicates that an altercation took place between 38-year-old Griffin Daniel Crawford of Rutherfordton and 26-year-old Ethan Wade Landis of Spindale in the grassy area beside of the bridge on 221 Business North that resulted in Crawford being stabbed in the abdomen. Crawford was transported to Mission Hospital of Asheville where he is still being treated for the single stab wound.
At the time of the incident, Landis was detained by police, but was no longer in custody by Wednesday afternoon.
The investigation is ongoing, according to Marion Police Lt. Rusty Jenkins.
