Deputies responding to a report of a domestic dispute near Marion arrested a Hickory man on a drug charge, authorities said Tuesday.
Deputy William Guzman of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Michael Tommy Sawyer, 51, address listed as Sulfer Springs Road in Hickory, with possession of methamphetamine.
Guzman and other deputies responded to a domestic dispute on Poplar Drive on the morning of Sunday, Jan. 5.
They found Sawyer sitting in his vehicle in the driveway. As deputies ordered Sawyer out of the car, he threw something on the ground.
Authorities found two baggies containing a total 1.2 grams of methamphetamine.
Sawyer got a $8,500 bond.
